Spirit in Action’s Leadership Program focuses on people working in grassroots movement-building organizations that are interested in their own leadership development. The goals of the program reflect Spirit in Action's vision and commitment to leadership development and movement building.
Participants:
- gain confidence and skills in using tools that foster spirit, vision, and the healing of divisions
- strengthen their ability to lead and to work with group dynamics using a heart and spirit focused perspective
- develop supportive relationships with people who share a commitment to transforming the work of making change
- are nurtured as they take on the challenge of leading Circles of Change or taking the tools back into their organizations.
The Leadership Program is vital to the healthy growth of the progressive movement. It supports the development of community leaders. Leaders take vital tools back to their communities to create real and positive change at the grassroots level.
After the 5 Day Training people either:
- Bring the tools back to the organization they work for
OR
- Run a Circle of Change,
where community members gather for 13 weeks to explore Spirit in Action’s tools as a way to address the work of justice in their community.
Who is the Leadership Program for?
Community leaders, teachers, clergy, police officers, social service workers, youth leaders and activists who want to make a difference in the life of our community and who are looking for ways to work across the differences that divide us (such as: race and ethnicity, nationality and native language, class, gender
identity and sexual orientation, religion, age, abilities and disabilities.)

During our 5 days together we will:
- Co-create our vision for our community and ground our work in our vision.
- Learn tools and skills that will help us be more successful in the work we are doing.
- Work in small groups to practice community-building skills and working together across our differences.
- Explore working for justice in a heart-centered way.
- Share our stories and strategies.
- Stregthen our relationships so that we can be more effective as a collective force in our community.
